My favorite character so far in To Kill a Mocking Bird is probably, “Scout” I like Her because she is really smart and knows a lot. I think this is from Atticus teaching her, so really I like Atticus because he is a single parent but still finds time to teach his kids. Back to Scout I think it is really cool that Scout can already read, and all the other kid in her school can't so she is really smart for her age.

I have learned from these characters that it is okay to be different. For example Atticus' family use slave, but Atticus him self is nice to black people, like “Calpurnia” and he still pays her money. So Calpurnia is not a slave. Another example is that Scout is a girl, but acts like a boy thus making he different from the other girls in Maycomb County. This is teaching me that it is okay to be different from other and to just be yourself. And that you can do what ever you set your mind to. In conclusion Atticus and Scout are both my favorite characters for they are different, and are them selves.

My initial reaction on the amazing book To Kill a Mocking Bird was this book is way to confusing. So I went to the library and picked up the on tape version, and that helped a lot. I like this book for its great hook in the very beginning. Although this book is hard for me I still like it. It is amazing to think how hard life was in the 1960's, but it would be cool to live at this time in the south.

If I had to describe this book in three words I would call it “A Powerful Book”, I would call it this because, it is an emotional book that teaches about being prejudice and this is what makes this book powerful. I think that it is cool that Jem and Scout have a dad that is easy going, because back then most people were very strict. For instance Scouts teacher was very strict in the way she teaches.

I like how this book has surprises in the pages, all you have to do is read read read, so I leave you here because I am going to go read.
